Nicaraguan Commercial Ports Handle 65,246 Metric Tons of Cargo

The National Port Authority (EPN) reported that, from August 17 to 23, it served 12 international vessels, which imported and exported a wide variety of products, contributing to the country's economic and commercial dynamism.

Engineer Carlos Aburto, General Manager of EPN, detailed that nine vessels were served at the Port of Corinto with a total of 65,246 metric tons of cargo.

"Of the nine vessels, we served five container ships that imported 1,550 containers of rebar, onions, rolls of fabric, and blocks of plaster, from Turkey, Mexico, and China, for a cargo equivalent to 19,711 metric tons," he stated.

He also mentioned that 693 containers of sugar, peanuts, coffee, and bananas were exported to Colombia, Germany, and Great Britain, weighing 11,486 metric tons. A total of 2,243 containers were handled, equivalent to 4,062 TEUs and 31,197 metric tons.

“Of the three tankers serviced, 5,531 metric tons of gasoline and 2,000 metric tons of soybean oil were imported, and 2,050 metric tons of palm oil, 600 metric tons of kernel oil, and 500 metric tons of palm meal were exported. The total liquid cargo was 10,681 metric tons,” he explained.

He noted that the two bulk carriers exported 23,368 metric tons of sugar in jumbo bags. The total cargo at the port of Corinto was 65,246 metric tons.

At the port of Arlen Siú, the international vessel Charlotte imported 410 metric tons of paper, rolls of fabric, and a vehicle, while exporting 411 metric tons of clothing, cement tiles, and beef. The total cargo was 821 metric tons.
