Nicaragua Exporta 2026 to Bring Together Producers, Exporters, and International Buyers

Nicaragua is preparing for the second edition of the Nicaragua Exporta 2026 Forum, to be held on October 15 and 16 at the Olof Palme Convention Center. Centered on the theme "Quality Products for the World" the event will feature the participation of producers, exporters, international buyers, government institutions, and representatives from approximately 30 countries.

Cristhofer Gutiérrez, Director General of Export Promotion at the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Commerce (MIFIC), explained on Channel 4’s Revista En Vivo program that the forum is an initiative aimed at promoting Nicaraguan exports and strengthening the country's presence in international markets.

"The Nicaragua Exporta Forum is an initiative of our government designed to foster and promote our exports and to boost our participation in international markets" he noted.

The official highlighted that the gathering will bring together exporters, producers, international buyers, government institutions linked to foreign trade, the diplomatic and consular corps, international organizations, and small and medium-sized enterprises.

"It is a coordinated platform designed to provide the necessary support for the development of our exports and the diversification of our markets. It aims to showcase our export offerings to the world—and, of course, to let our own people learn more about them—while also establishing business opportunities and continuing to position ourselves in those international markets" he stated.

Over 50 Exhibitors

The forum will feature representations of the country's key export sectors, including agribusiness, manufacturing, and fishery products.

Gutiérrez reported that more than 50 commercial exhibitors will participate, presenting products and services linked to various sectors of the economy.

He explained that companies involved in logistics, transportation, and customs brokerage will also be present, alongside the tourism sector and banking institutions. “So, we will have not only products but also services—services linked to logistics, transport, and customs agencies; we will also look at tourism, because we know they go hand in hand” he explained.

Business Matchmaking and Training

One of the main objectives of this second edition is to generate business opportunities between Nicaraguan producers and exporters and international buyers.

“Of course, we will hold business matchmaking sessions; for this, we are counting on the participation of international buyers who will join us—coming here to learn about our export offerings and to have the opportunity to connect with our producers, exporters, and service providers” he explained.

Additionally, conferences and panels will be held covering topics such as exports, logistics, international markets, investment, and intellectual property.

The Director General of Export Promotion noted that these activities aim to strengthen the knowledge of producers and exporters to facilitate their entry into international markets.

“We will host conferences and panels related to exports, the logistics chain, leveraging international markets, investment, and intellectual property” he stated.

Over 30 Countries

This edition projects the participation of more than 300 people from approximately 30 countries, including Mexico, Algeria, Guatemala, and Brazil.

He added that representatives from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas are also expected to attend, with the goal of strengthening trade ties and creating new opportunities for Nicaraguan products and services.

“It is, therefore, an excellent platform; we hope it yields good results, allowing us to continue collaborating on the promotion of our trade and delivering positive outcomes for the Nicaraguan people” he expressed.

Growing Participation in the Forum

Gutiérrez highlighted that the first edition provided positive experiences and valuable feedback from both the export sector and international buyers.

“The truth is, there have been many experiences; we have received excellent feedback from the export sector and numerous expressions of interest from international buyers” he affirmed. He noted that this year has seen growth of over 20% in the participation of commercial exhibitors, as well as greater diversification of products and services.

“We are seeing growth of more than 20% in commercial exhibitor participation, and we are further diversifying our range of products and services” he explained.

He also highlighted the goal of increasing the number of Nicaraguan companies involved in exports and moving toward products with higher added value.

“This is the result of the previous event, but also of the coordinated and concerted effort by our government institutions to create this platform” he noted.

Quality of Nicaraguan Products

The official also highlighted the conditions underpinning the quality of Nicaragua's export offerings, including sanitary and phytosanitary standards and the institutional support provided to producers and exporters.

“Regarding quality, for instance, the safety of our agro-industrial export products stands out; we maintain appropriate sanitary and phytosanitary status for the protection of plants, produce, and products of both animal and plant origin” he explained.

He cited the work of institutions such as the Institute for Agricultural Protection and Health (IPSA) and the Nicaraguan Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (INPESCA), as well as other stakeholders linked to the National Quality System.

Gutiérrez pointed to the international recognition of products such as coffee, cocoa, and beef as examples. “We see how our coffee, for example, achieves impressive scores and wins awards in international competitions; our cocoa is internationally recognized as fine-aroma cocoa; and our beef has access to major global markets—all thanks to the quality of our products” he stated.

Exhibition Open to the Public

The "Nicaragua Exporta 2026" Forum will take place on October 15 and 16 at the Olof Palme Convention Center, featuring 52 booths from companies and government institutions.

In addition to exploring the range of products and services on offer, attendees will be able to receive information and guidance regarding foreign trade processes.

“Participants will also be able to receive advice from our government institutions linked to foreign trade” he noted.

Service areas will be staffed by institutions such as MIFIC, MINSA, MARENA, Customs, IPSA, and INPESCA, providing information on the procedures and requirements for exporting goods.
