Nicaragua Paves the Way in Japan to Attract Investment and New Markets

Nicaragua showcased its investment and export opportunities in the Japanese market during the Japan-LAC Business Forum 2026, held on August 24 and 25 at the Akasaka Intercity Conference Center in Tokyo. The country's participation allowed it to present business opportunities to international entrepreneurs and advance commercial contacts for Nicaraguan products such as coffee and processed tropical fruits.

The Nicaraguan delegation included representatives from CONATRADEC, Secretariat for Investment and Export Promotion (SPIEX), and the Nicaraguan Embassy in Japan, who used this event to promote the conditions and opportunities the country offers to potential investors.

During the forum, Nicaragua presented an overview of its sectors with potential to attract foreign capital, in a setting that brought together business leaders, institutions, and representatives from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Japan. The event also took place within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the alliance between Japan and the Inter-American Development Bank, a milestone that reinforced the interest in expanding economic and trade ties between both regions.

One of the main outcomes of Nicaragua's participation was the direct interaction between national companies and Japanese buyers. The business matchmaking sessions provided a platform to showcase the quality and diversity of the country's export offerings, with a special focus on coffee and products made from tropical fruits.

These meetings represent an opportunity for Nicaraguan companies to explore new markets and establish relationships with buyers in a market recognized for its high standards and its interest in differentiated, high-quality products.

The presence in Tokyo also had strategic value. The Japanese capital is one of Asia's leading financial, technological, and innovation centers, making the forum a showcase for Nicaragua to connect with companies and investors capable of establishing long-term partnerships.

Beyond the meetings held during the two-day event, Nicaragua's participation aims to strengthen economic ties with Japan, attract new investments, and expand access for Nicaraguan products to international markets.

This engagement with Japanese business leaders opens new avenues for sectors such as coffee and processed tropical fruits, while also helping to position Nicaragua as a country with opportunities for trade and investment. The challenge now is to transform the contacts and discussions initiated in Tokyo into concrete agreements and projects that will generate new opportunities for the national economy.
