Nicaraguan Delegation Meets with Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China

In the framework of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, a high-level meeting was held between the delegation of the Republic of Nicaragua and the Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi.


Foreign Minister Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's greetings to the Co-Presidents of Nicaragua and reiterated the high importance that China attaches to the relationship with Nicaragua, describing us as good friends who share a profound brotherhood based on common vital interests, sovereignty, international justice, and mutual respect. He highlighted the strategic and fruitful nature of the bilateral relationship.


He reaffirmed China's support for key projects. He noted that cooperation within the framework of the FTA and the Belt and Road Initiative is exemplary, and that both countries firmly confront the global hegemony led by the US, jointly defending multilateralism, equity, and respect for international norms.


Presidential Advisor Laureano Ortega conveyed the fraternal greetings of the Co-Presidents, Commander Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, and expressed the honor of participating in this historic event. He emphasized the extraordinary speed and efficiency with which the bilateral relationship has developed since its reestablishment in 2021, highlighting that this cooperation is an example for the world. He reiterated Nicaragua's firm support for all of President Xi Jinping's initiatives and the One China Principle, and expressed solidarity with China in its defense against the tariff war and external threats.


Foreign Minister Valdrack Jaentschke thanked the Chinese government for its hospitality and highlighted the maturity of China-CELAC cooperation. He affirmed that, despite the short time since the reestablishment of diplomatic relations, ties with China are deep, firm, and projected toward a future of shared development and multipolarity.


Foreign Minister Wang Yi concluded by reaffirming China's willingness to maintain mutual trust, provide continued support to Nicaragua, and jointly build a Community of Shared Future. He extended his best wishes for the success of the Nicaraguan delegation at the Forum.


The Nicaraguan delegation is composed of Comrades Laureano Ortega Murillo, Presidential Advisor; Valdrack Jaentschke, Foreign Minister; Ovidio Reyes, President of the Central Bank; Oscar Mojica, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure; General Marvin Corrales, Inspector General of the Nicaraguan Army; Loyda Barreda, Director of INATEC; Javier Gutiérrez, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources; Carlos Selva, Director of Financial Markets at the Ministry of the Interior; and Ramiro Cruz, Ambassador to China.
